The coaches of CrossFit St. Charles are dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in coaching, continuing education and service. To us, every member is an athlete worth investing our time and passion for ensuring that they get the results they seek and the fitness experience they deserve. We have worked with people at every level of fitness and strive to provide the guidance and support at the individual level. Meet your team.

  • Kim Wilkes

    Owner, Head Coach

    Before Kim found CrossFit in 2006, she was a personal trainer and kickboxing instructor. While she enjoyed training people with these methods, she quickly took on CrossFit as her fitness regimen of choice. Kim became Level 1 certified in 2007 and opened CrossFit St. Charles in 2008. Her purpose as gym owner is to bring CrossFit to the masses and provide a fitness that helps people be the best they can be outside of the gym, in the real world. As a coach, she has a passion for the basics — the fundamental movement patterns that are the foundation of virtuosity.

    In Kim’s words: “Giving an athlete an avenue to express their potential is truly gratifying. CrossFit is only partly about exercise. Realization of capability reaches far beyond the gym walls. People often say that I have changed their lives but I have merely provided the environment in which they could change their own.”

  • Ben Stroud

    Coach, Gym Manager

    Ben has been athletic most of his life. He played high school football and started out in the weight room at 15 years old. He now enjoys competing in local CrossFit competitions and the annual CrossFit Games Open but he really draws his motivation and inspiration from the attitudes and dedication within the CrossFit St. Charles community. From the moment he walked into his first workout, Ben knew he wanted to pursue coaching as his career. For him, there’s something special about the daily fun of it — the jokes, laughs, and celebrations of accomplishment.

    In Ben’s words: “My biggest passion is helping others reach their fitness goals. I find it is the first step to healthy and happy life and there’s nothing better than helping someone find happiness.”

  • Chris Glover

    Coach

    Chris is a champion powerlifter, a nationally ranked champion BMX racer, and a coach to 10 state champion powerlifters. He was introduced to CrossFit in 2008 by a coworker and incorporated the methodology with his personal training clients with great success. Today, he specializes in powerlifting, barbell strength, and “gettin’ gainz.”

    In Chris’s words: “I strive to push the limits of human potential and help anyone excel in their pursuit of physical improvement.”

  • Jen Leander

    Coach

    Jen has a background in education and developmental psychology. For her CrossFit started as a hobby that quickly grew into a second passion. Today, she combines her love for fitness and helping others as one of the amazing team members at CrossFit St. Charles.

    In Jen’s words: “I am very passionate about sharing my love of CrossFit with children of all ages and taking a very hands-on, active role in coaching kids that is based in positive reinforcement and fun!”

  • Kyle Kellis

    Coach

    Kyle is passionate about health and wellness, music, nature, sports, and applying his fitness to athletic endeavors outside of the gym. As a coach, he specializes in strength training, Olympic weightlifting, and gymnastics.

    In Kyle’s words: What I love most about coaching our members is “…The excitement they get when they achieve their goals — those are the best moments. I also love the support everyone has for one another while suffering through the workout. The environment is like having a second family. “

  • Paul Cegon

    Coach

    Paul is an Army veteran with 10 years of service, who started CrossFit in 2007 as a way to get fit. With his strong leadership background, he was a natural fit to join the CrossFit St. Charles coaching staff. He specializes in competition prep, weightlifting, and gymnastics, and has trained several athletes up to the CrossFit Games and Regional levels.

    In Paul’s words: “I sincerely believe in the CF method and am very passionate about sharing with others, what I believe to be, the most logical, effective and satisfying path to total fitness.”

  • Jamie Wansing

    Coach

    Jamie is a firefighter and paramedic who started CrossFit as his training regimen for his job. He specializes in indoor rowing as a certified Concept 2 rowing instructor. Jamie strives to motivate other firefighters to help reduce cardiovascular disease since firefighting is an intense job that requires physical and mental preparedness to save lives.

    In Jamie’s words: “As a current firefighter/paramedic, I see the benefits of the functional movements that CrossFit provides as training for life and my job.”

  • Sarah Floyd

    MSPT- Masters of Science, Physical Therapy

    Sarah is a competitive athlete with an MS in Physical Therapy, making her a shoe-in as a coach. With her passion for a natural, holistic approach to health, CrossFit suited her personal health and fitness philosophy. She was instantly hooked to the theory and methodology behind the sport. Sarah also has an elite athletic background as a competitive gymnast, a collegiate soccer player and a 2-time CrossFit competition participant in the Rx division. As a coach, she loves teaching people how to prevent injury, be proactive about health and wellness, and understanding their bodies.
